Cultural appropriation in the fashion industry has become a contentious issue, raising important questions about creativity, respect, and the commodification of cultural symbols. This paper examines the phenomenon of cultural appropriation within fashion, exploring its historical context, contemporary implications, and the ethical considerations that designers and consumers must navigate. By analyzing case studies and industry practices, we aim to provide a framework for understanding cultural appropriation and propose strategies for fostering genuine cultural exchange and respect within the fashion landscape. In recent years, the topic of cultural appropriation in the fashion industry has become a contentious issue that raises important questions about creativity, respect, and the commercialization of cultural symbols. This article examines this phenomenon in the fashion world, analyzing its history, contemporary implications, and the ethical considerations that designers and consumers should be aware of.
