Abstract :
The steel plate shear walls with stiffener have different structural advantages, including improved buckling behavior, prevent buckling of plate in the elastic area and increasing absorption of earthquake energy, but these walls have disadvantages such as increasing by construction time due to installation of stiffeners by welding create residual stress in the steel plate caused by weld working and etc. The corrugated steel plate shear walls considered as a proper substitute for shear walls with stiffener that have the same benefits but without the disadvantages described above. In the shear walls because of architecture and equipment reasons, embedded-ups opening in some cases are inevitable. This paper discusses the effect of opening dimensions on the behavior of corrugated steel plate shear walls by finite element method using software ABAQUS with respect to geometric and material non - linear behavior is concerned. According to the studies reviewed in this article increasing the opening dimensions caused decreasing buckling load, stiffness, ultimate strength, ductility and energy absorption and on the other hand to increase shear wall thickness is reduced ductility and increasing above parameters.
