Abstract :
The city is a physical-cultural complex formed by the needs, activities and behaviors of its inhabitants. Urban spaces are seen as the bedrock of these needs and the container for social interaction. In the Iranian-Islamic cities, the apparent form of each city derives from the content and meaning of the interior that is rooted in the worldview, culture, traditions and indigenous nature of the region. Architectural and planning patterns are selected based on the natural and humane geography of each area. What are considered important indicators in Iranian cities are two important criteria of being Iranian and Islamic. The problem is that these two criteria are not paid much attention to in planning. Accordingly, in this paper, it is attempted to determine the criteria of conformity of architecture and physical planning of Iranian cities with Iranian-Islamic indicators. The results show that in recent years the rate of adaptation has decreased and this has had its own consequences. Finally, some solutions to Iranian-Islamic architecture and urban planning are presented to solve these problems. The research method is library and analytical descriptive expression of the materials.
