Abstract :
Structure designers have attempted to apply seismic codes in order to reduce earthquake-induced hazards on new structures as well as current vulnerable buildings. Considering and updating the performance levels in building codes is a vital and essential point for designing and retrofitting them. The designers face many limitations for achieving a special and unique architecture, such as economic parameters, the possibility of implementation, the minimum architectural changes and avoiding from employing additional human resources. In the present research, the effect of near-field and far-field earthquakes was compared by modeling two structures: 15 and 20 storey buildings. The lateral relocation of storeys shows that the storey relocation is about 38% less than structure relocation under the influence of earthquakes near the fault.
