Abstract :
Many abilities that cannot be learned without continuous practice are taught to dental hygienists. It is necessary to assess the abilities of students and provide real-time feedback for improvement in order to increase the effectiveness of this instruction. One of the most crucial duties of dental hygienists is hand scaling work, which is the topic of this study. For the purpose of measuring the motion involved in hand scaling, we created a measurement system that is introduced in this research study. The talents of the students can be evaluated objectively using this measured data. The measuring of the hand scaling motion of numerous participants in the trial, including dental hygienist teachers, dental hygienists, and dental hygienist students are performed, who had varying levels of professional experience. We demonstrated that it is possible to derive a quantitative index for differentiating between various individual skills from the measured findings.
