Abstract :
The railway station is one of the most important facilities in cities and serves as a crucial node in the rail transport network. It cannot be researched or planned without proper identification. The classification of railway stations is considered a fundamental step in their identification, and it is necessary to determine the distinctions between stations during the planning process. Based on researches conducted in this field and drawing on the previous experiences of countries, organizations, and management institutions in transportation and railway transportion, researchers have presented various methods for the classification of railway stations. This article aims to provide a thorough review and updated perspective on the classification of railway stations. By examining previous experiences and existing classifications worldwide, the objective is to enhance and refine the researches conducted in this field. The focus lies on presenting diverse methods of classifying railway stations, taking into account the variables that significantly impact station performance.
