Abstract :
There are a number of pumps in different types of industries especially Oil and Gas companies. Therefore, defects of vital equipment as a result of high amount of vibration can have dire impact on production rate. It is so useful to utilize the convenient maintenance procedure for the sake of detecting the defects of the machine. Vibration analysis and thermography methods can be used. In this research, it has been carried out a case study on the causes of the high level of vibration for a centrifugal pump which operates at a crude oil refinery. In order to gain the accurate result, the possible defect frequencies were extracted by means of the vibration analyzer. Afterwards, this data has been transformed to a computer. Then, the root cause of the trouble was recognized using Fast Fourier Transform. This data leads to bearing spinning. In addition to using vibration analysis, thermography method has been used in this paper because of the defect type. Eventually, predictive maintenance was performed on this equipment and vibration level decreased rapidly.
