Abstract :
The design of the Arts and Crafts Center in the historical context of the Moniriyeh district of Tehran is an interdisciplinary approach that addresses the link between historical identity, cultural economy, and sustainable urban development. Inspired by the physical and social characteristics of the neighborhood and paying attention to its hidden cultural capacities, this plan seeks to create a multipurpose space for education, production, display, and exchange of works of art and handicrafts. The cultural economy approach in this project is to utilize arts and crafts not only as intangible heritage and an identity-giving factor, but also as a source for job creation, urban tourism, and the promotion of social capital. To this end, the design of the complex is based on principles such as urban regeneration, preserving local architectural values, flexibility of spaces, and attention to social interactions. It is expected that the Arts and Crafts Center, as a dynamic center, will strengthen the connection between residents and the neighborhood identity, and provide a platform for the prosperity of the creative economy and the improvement of the quality of urban life in the historical heart of Tehran. Today, attention to cultural economy and creative economy as one of the driving engines of urban development is of particular importance in the design and recreation of public spaces. The historical district of Monirieh in Tehran, with its rich history in social, cultural and commercial fields, is considered a suitable platform for the formation of a complex such as the House of Arts and Crafts. This research aims to design a multipurpose space for education, production, display and sale of works of art and handicrafts, and seeks to create a new model for the connection between contemporary architecture and historical context within the framework of cultural economy.
