Abstract :
Today, the building industry, as one of the largest consumers of energy and natural resources, plays a significant role in the emission of greenhouse gases and global climate change. According to the International Energy Agency report, the building industry accounts for about 40% of final energy consumption and 36% of energy‑related greenhouse gas emissions. In this regard, life cycle assessment of building carbon has emerged as a key tool for identifying, quantifying, and reducing the environmental impacts of this industry. With the advancement of digital technologies, Building Information Modeling (BIM) and artificial intelligence have been introduced as innovative solutions to improve the accuracy, speed, and efficiency of the life cycle carbon assessment process. This article provides a comprehensive review of the scientific literature related to the application of artificial intelligence tools and BIM technology in building life cycle carbon assessment. The research method of this study was a systematic literature review using reputable databases including Scopus, Web of Science, and Google Scholar. The results indicate that integrating BIM technology with artificial intelligence algorithms can increase the accuracy of life cycle carbon assessment by up to 25% and reduce the assessment process time by up to 40%. Additionally, the challenges and opportunities ahead in this field are discussed, and recommendations for future research are provided.
