Abstract
Architectural photography, as a key medium in representing, promoting, and understanding built environments, plays a role beyond simple documentation; it is an art form that bridges geometric documentation and artistic spatial interpretation. The primary research problem addressed in this paper is the challenge of accurately translating three-dimensional architectural volumes into two-dimensional images without compromising the atmosphere, proportions, and geometric symmetry of the structure. This research aims to conduct an in-depth aesthetic and practical analysis of three crucial optical tools: wide-angle (wide), telephoto, and perspective control (tilt-shift) lenses in architectural photography. The research methodology employed is descriptive-analytical with a practical approach, utilizing library research and visual documentation. Findings reveal that each of these optical systems offers a distinct spatial representation: wide lenses, with their high visual dynamism, enhance a sense of spaciousness and invitation in confined interior spaces; telephoto lenses, by compressing layers, facilitate the depiction of rhythm, texture, and decorative details at height (particularly in historical buildings); and tilt-shift lenses serve as a reference tool for physically correcting converging lines and maintaining structural balance in exterior facades. Finally, this paper provides a practical comparative model, offering comprehensive guidance for photographers, architects, and researchers in this field.
