Abstract :
The aim of the present study is to identify and examine international patterns and experiences in 1) skill development and 2) career guidance of students in the field of education in 3 countries around the world. The research method is a qualitative descriptive one. The statistical population includes career guidance curricula in countries around the world, and the sample under study is 4) career and work-based education curricula in these countries. What is important in the career guidance curricula studied is the use of new and active methods alongside traditional methods. It also examines the focus of schools and universities around the world on skill development of their graduates and discusses their opposition to qualification and skill orientation. According to the research findings, it is recommended that policymakers in the Iranian education system and educational field activists, in addition to implementing successful examples that have been developed by researchers and designers in this field in the last decade, put career guidance curriculum design on the agenda, considering the characteristics of the elements of the career guidance curriculum of the countries studied, while maintaining indigenous (Iranian-Islamic) principles and values.
