Abstract :
Iran is facing a significant challenge in terms of energy imbalance, which has widespread implications across industrial, economic, and security sectors. While the utilization of renewable energy sources is proposed as a promising solution, there is limited research on the optimization of hybrid renewable systems in cold and mountainous regions like Tabriz—regions that require specific climatic conditions, appropriate approaches, and localized solutions. This study aims to assess the effectiveness of these systems in optimizing building energy consumption, develop practical models for designers and policymakers, and provide a framework for sustainable energy management in these areas. In this study, three distinct scenarios were simulated and analyzed: (1) the sole use of photovoltaic panels, (2) the combination of photovoltaic panels with a single wind turbine, and (3) the combination with two wind turbines. Energy modeling was carried out using DesignBuilder software, based on real climatic data from Tabriz. These models were also integrated with smart technologies such as optical sensors and a hybrid air-source heat pump (ASHP) HVAC system.
