Abstract :
The global imperative in recent years for international companies to respond to major threats such as unintended environmental, social and economic problems resulting from ecological degradation, population growth and economic activity has increased. According to a systematic review, a global circular economy is needed to respond to this confluence that has created an emerging existential crisis, which subsequently defines a new structure: sustainable international business model innovations. In this regard, circular inputs, sharing platforms, product as a service, product use extension and resource recovery are introduced as business models that have the potential to respond to these grand challenges. Based on CE principles, the innovations and initiatives introduced are compared with the traditional linear economic model and presented as practical standardization/adaptation alternatives for companies responding to various informal and formal international institutions. Based on the theoretical foundations of resource-based, dynamic capabilities, and international activity-based perspectives on international business model innovation, an integrated framework is introduced, accompanied by a set of detailed research questions to provide future research opportunities for the field. This conceptual approach influences the adaptability of marketing capabilities, which in turn influences international performance, and provides a foundation for building the literature.
