Abstract :
In the digital era, citizens’ behaviors within urban spaces have undergone fundamental changes. Smart technologies, social media, and digital lifestyles have transformed how people perceive, interact, and occupy urban environments. This transformation highlights the need for urban spaces that are adaptive and flexible to citizens’ evolving behavioral patterns.
The present study aims to propose a conceptual framework for designing adaptive urban spaces that respond to behavioral dynamics in the digital age. The research adopts a qualitative–analytical methodology, based on a systematic literature review, comparative case studies of global smart public spaces, and the extraction of behavioral and spatial design components.
Findings indicate that adaptability in urban design is structured around three main dimensions: spatial and functional flexibility, smart interaction between citizens and the environment, and data-driven design approaches. This framework contributes to developing human-centered and intelligent urban spaces suited to the evolving digital context of contemporary cities.
