Abstract :
Peri-urban parks, as one of the most significant components of urban green spaces, play an important role in enhancing environmental quality, conserving natural resources, and achieving environmental sustainability. Rapid urbanization, increasing environmental pressures, and the reduction of natural areas have highlighted the necessity of adopting appropriate design strategies for these spaces. This study aims to analyze the requirements of green space design in peri-urban parks and examine their role in promoting environmental sustainability, with a particular focus on urban architecture and municipal management. The findings indicate that the use of native plant species, efficient water resource management, biodiversity conservation, climate-responsive design, and the integration of green spaces with the physical structure of the city are among the key factors contributing to sustainability in these parks. Furthermore, municipalities play a crucial role in improving the environmental and social performance of peri-urban parks through effective planning, infrastructure provision, and maintenance management. Therefore, adherence to sustainable design principles and integrated urban management can provide a foundation for the development of livable and sustainable cities.
