Abstract :
This paper examines reforms implemented in the social security systems of selected countries and their consequences. Given the demographic and economic challenges, many countries have undertaken reforms to their social security systems. The aim of this study is to conduct a comparative analysis of these reforms and evaluate their outcomes. The methodology is based on a documentary study and secondary data analysis. Findings indicate that reforms have primarily been directed towards moving towards multi-tier systems, increasing the retirement age, changing benefit calculation methods, and strengthening private and supplementary layers. The implications of these reforms include improved financial sustainability of funds, increased private sector participation, and changes in the level of coverage and adequacy of benefits. Results suggest that reforms should be implemented gradually and with consideration of each country s specific circumstances to ensure their effectiveness.
