Abstract :
Claim management is one of the most important subjects/challenges of large-scale projects throughout the world. Executive projects and contracts are usually encountered with one party s claim relative to the other one during the operation for different reasons. This claim is usually a written request along with the contract documents about financial compensation or the satisfaction of other conditions which, in contractual terms- cause the requester s conflict with the contract party or the employer. Therefore the formation of consequent adversarial relationships between the contract parties is not out of mind by the appearance and continuation of conflicts in the execution of development projects. It is clear that in case of the formation and amplification of adversarial relationships between the contract parties, it would damage each project severely or even prepare the grounds for the full project failure which is completely in contrast with the purpose of to reach public benefits in development projects. This paper aims at presenting an approach for the utilization of project management body of knowledge in the jurisdiction process in order to facilitate claim management in development projects. It tries to study project-oriented processes and their comparison with the jurisdiction process as well as to examine the ease of the acceleration and execution of the 12-fold scopes of the project management knowledge in the resolution of probable claims during the execution of development projects besides presenting a general review of the predicted claim management process according to the pmbok standard. It eventually studies the possibility of conflict resolution by spending the minimum amount of time and cost by the maximum participation of the claim parties in the jurisdiction process.
