Abstract :
    According to various transport systems and due to the fact that in today s world of environmental protection, energy saving and sustainable development, is of great importance.The study tried to evaluate different transport modes in terms of cost, pollution, energy consumption and biodegradability to give the reader insight for selecting the optimal mode of transport. In the first part, because of the importance of protecting the environment, history, the future ahead is given, then compare rail transport with other modes of transport are discussed. In the third section to the issue of sustainable development and the role of rail transport in relation to the mentioned In the end, according to what has been proposed in this paper and other materials that are not provided but worthy in this research study, conducted in a fair conclusion.
