Abstract :
This study was conducted between March 2016 and September 2016 at the physical models experimental hall of the Shahid Chamran University of Ahvaz, by means of addressing the potential effects of sugarcane baggase on the clogging of the artificial coatings of the agricultural sub-surface drain pipes in the limy soils. To simulate the drainage trench a 1:1 physical model (100 cm long, 40cm wide and 150 cm high) was utilized. The soil and water utilized in this study were obtained from Rahmormoz region and the River Marun. Furthermore, the quantity of Magnesium and Calcium in the in-let and out-let water were measured during the experiment. This experiment was conducted in the form of two treatments and the model was continuously exposed to water flow for 2000 hr. In the first treatment, namely; WB, the Sugarcane Baggase with a volumetric ratio of 30 to 70 was mixed with soil and placed around the drainage pipe. While in the second treatment, namely; WOB, baggase was not used. The results obtained in the present study indicated that, despite the difference the quantity of Magnesium and Calcium in the in-let and out-let (out-in, OI) was negative in both treatments, the median of the OI records had a greater value in the treatment WB. This implies that the existence of baggase around the drain pipe had let to less Magnesium and Calcium Sedimentation.
