Abstract :
    The considering that soil stability, a prerequisite for the sustainability of production in rangelands For this purpose, soil physical and chemical characteristics were investigated in rural and summer rangelands in Shavaz of Yazd province So, sampling was done using random systematic method with 30 plots of 2m2 along 10 transects in rural and summer rangelands according to dominant Plant species list, canopy cover percentage in each plot and sampling at the first 30 cm of soil in each plot. Finally, soil characteristics were compared using independent sample t-test in SPSS16 software.The results showed that canopy cover have a significant decreased in rural rangelands but the gravel has a significant increase in rural rangelands(p<0.01) parameters like electrical conductivity (EC), calcium and, sodium, SAR and potassium have not significant in both rangelands but magnesium ,PH, organic Mather and Nitrogen have significant decreased in rural rangelands (p<0.01) Due to a decrease in vegetation and increase soil erosion
