Abstract :
The aim of this research was to investigate the effect of putrescine exogenous and drought stress on Hyoscyomus niger L by studying the growth parameters and activity of antioxidant enzymes, phenolic and alkaloids. At first, seeds Hyoscyomus niger were treated with gibberellin and then cultivated in potting conditions. After 4 months in the middle of the vegetative phase, the plants were first treated with putrescine at concentrations of 0.05 and 0.1 g / l for 2 weeks before applying drought stress. Then, drought stress was applied to plants at a mild surface (35% saturated soil) and severe (20% saturated soil capacity) with normal irrigation (50% saturated capacity) for 4 weeks. The results showed that in mild and especially drought stress treatments, growth parameters such as length, fresh and dry weight of shoot decreased, and adding putrescine improved root length in severe drought stress. The activity of catalase enzyme was significantly increased in drought stress compared with control. In contrast, peroxidase and ascorbate peroxidase activity decreased in dry treatments compared to control. On the other hand, the use of putrescine increased the activity of the peroxidase enzyme, but reduced the activity of the enzyme peroxidase. Also, severe drought stress increased the amount of phenolic compounds in the aerial part of the plant and the use of putrescine in concentration of 0.05 grams per liter intensified its increase. In the case of alkaloids, application of putrescine at a concentration of 0.05 grams per liter, both in mild and severe stress, significantly increased the amount of these compounds in the plant.
