Abstract :
Mitochondrial DNA is useful for studying the evolutionary relationship between animal species. Some characteristic such as conservation in protein coding sequences, high replacement rates in none coding sequences and the absence of genetic recombination make it the best tool for genetic evolution analysis. Current study was carrying out to identify interior phylogeny in camels using ATP6 gene of mitochondrial genome. The analysis leads to identify 12 haplotypes in Iranian camels that separated to 5 and 7 for dromedary and Bactrian camels respectively. Nucleotide diversity in ATP6 calculated equal for both species and it was 0.00213 and 0.00235 for dromedary and Bactrian camels respectively. Tajima D was estimated negative but it was not significant (p<0.05). The results of network and phylogenetic analysis were the same and indicate high genetic diversity in Iranian camel.
