Abstract :
Air pollution is one of the environmental problems and challenges facing the country, which has become a serious threat to humankind in recent years, in line with the development of societies, industrialization and technology development. The study of the economic dimensions of greenhouse gas emissions and its environmental impacts, especially in the current context of increasing greenhouse gas emissions, is of considerable importance. Also, one of the factors affecting health costs is air pollution, which has been neglected in most empirical studies, while air pollution is one of the environmental problems that has become a serious threat to human health in recent years. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to examine the effect of health expenditure and economic growth on carbon dioxide emissions.
Materials and Methods: This study examines the effect of health expenditures and economic growth on carbon dioxide emission (CO2) using a Distributed Lag Displacement (ARDL) model. The present study in terms of method, the analytical-descriptive and in terms of aim, applied research and method of collecting information from the start, the library, and Statistics and information related to the variables to be used in research also from the World Bank(WDi) and Central Bank of the Islamic Republic of Iran has been extracted. Also, the tools used in the research. the software EVIEWS version 9 has been the timeframe between the years 1357-1393 and the location country of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Results: Results: The results showed that in the short time and long term, health expenditure variables, economic growth rate and gross fixed capital formation have a positive and significant effect on carbon dioxide emissions. Also, livestock varieties that have been introduced as auxiliary variables have a negative and significant effect on carbon dioxide emissions in the short and long term. The CUSUM and CUSUMSQ tests are also validated to test the structural stability of the model.
Conclusions: The results of the research indicate that increased economic growth and health expenditure have led to an increase in carbon dioxide emissions, and that policy makers need to take measures that bring economic growth to the least harm to the environment and achieve the goals of sustainable development.
