Abstract
Cloud computing provides users with an on-demand platform with easy access and on-demand services at various levels to build virtual machines (VMs) with efficient use of hardware, computing and network resources. This allows users to remotely run a wide range of applications in various fields such as healthcare, public services, e-government, and more. There are different cloud platforms for creating and managing virtual machines through multiple application or system services. For example, openstack platforms, oracle virtualbox, Microsoft HyperV are widely used. Virtual Machine Migration (VMM) is one of the most important services of the system that is used for smooth maintenance and maintenance, load management, fault tolerance, providing a safe and secure service. A virtual machine live migration service actually transfers an active virtual machine from one physical machine to another physical machine in different data centers. This transfer involves a sequence of repetitive operations to migrate the executable context of a virtual machine to the destination machine. These operations depend on scheduling, resource availability, and general time constraints. On the other hand, the migration process involves the transfer of control data over a communication channel with shared storage. Given the complexities of the VM migration process mentioned above, any security breach during migration may result in incorrect transfer of the VM sample to a data center, which in turn may expose the data center to attackers. This may manifest as a catastrophic system failure, system failure, and load balancing that may lead to data center destruction in the long run. In this article, we study security vulnerabilities in different cloud platforms. This vulnerability could help developers design a secure cloud platform.
