Abstract :
The short-term effects of propylene glycol as a beverage (PG) and calcium salts of palm oil ineffective on DMI have been reported weekly. In agreement with a study that reported no effect of propylene glycol on DMI. An increase in the amount of milk with propylene glycol was reported in commercial dairy farms within 2 days after calving. Propylene glycol as a beverage (PG) and calcium salts of palm oil fatty acids had no effect on BW and BCS during the first 3 weeks of lactation. Cows decreased approximately 0.22 units of BCS between pre-calving to 3 weeks post-calving (3.53 vs. 3.31). Studies have shown increased insulin to propylene glycol levels. Eating 2 days of propylene glycol decreased the plasma NEFA concentration compared with the control and calcium propionate groups.
