Abstract :
To investigation the effect of drought stress on seedling length of Salvia limbata, that belongs to Lamiaceae family which is an herbaceous plant and is native to Iran, an experiment was carried out based on a completely randomized design with four replications. The effect of drought stress was studied in seven levels(0, -2, -4, -6, -8, -10 and -12 bar) of Polyethylene glycol 6000 on seedling length. Results showed that, the levels of drought stress significantly influence the seedling length of Salvia limbata. The maximum seedling length was observed at control treatment, the minimum seedling length was observed at -4 bar treatment, the maximum average of seedling length was observed at -2 bar treatment and the minimum average of seedling length was observed at -6 bar treatment. There was no germination at -8, -10 and -12 bar treatments. Results of this study showed that, Salvia limbata is relatively resistant to drought stress.
