Postmodern style analysis in contemporary Western architecture, a case study after the European Industrial Revolution (Venturi s mother house)

Abstract :
    Postmodernism is a critique of the period of modernism based on the views and opinions of critics and does not have a specific orientation alone and even owes its name to modernism. Postmodern architecture was formed in response to modern architecture that ignores emotion, while modernists sought a single language for buildings, postmodernists emphasized diversity to differentiate their buildings for different cultures, contexts, and markets. The critical view of postmodern philosophy and approach gave rise to diverse and sometimes contradictory views in postmodern architecture in response to modernism; And dealing with the form or going back to the past, etc., showed itself more in the work of each of the prominent architects and caused a multitude of views. The purpose of this article is to understand the concept of postmodernism, the characteristics of this type of architecture, the causes of origin and the idea included in all works of postmodern style. This article uses descriptive-analytical method and library information collection techniques to study some aspects of the concept of postmodernism and its study in the works of architects of this style. Findings from this study show that historical sources to public culture, populism and pluralism, people s comments in their homes, rejection of the pre-determined inanimate sculptural form are sources of inspiration for postmodern style architecture, which ultimately all these traits. Emphasizes attention to man and human identity.
