Abstract
Hierarchy is one of the principles governing the sets and components of the phenomenon and the application of the principle of hierarchy in our traditional architecture has always been seen in various fields in architecture and urban planning such as spatial hierarchy and local and regional transit hierarchy. Family privacy has been the main function of traditional Iranian houses, with central courtyard houses traditionally displaying varying degrees of privacy and territory, while in the present era, privacy has fallen victim to economic and social factors, and Priorities for the establishment of spaces that protect privacy have gradually diminished, the effects and consequences of such spatial relationships are now lost. In other words, in traditional houses, hierarchy has been one of the principles governing the components. In Islamic architecture, privacy has been mentioned as one of the design criteria in the construction of Islamic cities and the importance of privacy and the hierarchy of achieving it has been considered. Given the necessity and importance of paying attention to privacy and spatial hierarchy, the question is how to use the principle of privacy and spatial hierarchy to improve the quality of contemporary houses and residential complexes? The research method is qualitative and based on library studies, the indicators and factors affecting the creation of a house and a residential complex will be examined with the approach of privacy and hierarchy.
