Abstract :
Nanotechnology is the use of very small pieces of material, roughly between 1 and 100 nanometers in size, on their own or manipulating them to create new materials on a large scale, where unique phenomena enable new applications. Simply put, nanotechnology is science, engineering and technology that is done at the nanoscale. Nanotechnology derives its name from the prefix nano . A nanometer is one billionth of a meter - a distance equal to two to twenty atoms (depending on the type of atom) placed next to each other. Nanotechnology refers to the manipulation of the structure of matter on a length scale of a few nanometers, interpreted by different people at different times to mean anything from 0.1 nanometers (controlling the arrangement of individual atoms) to 100 nanometers or more. A fluid that has particles with nano dimensions is called a nano fluid. These types of fluids are designed by suspended colloidal particles with nano dimensions in a base fluid. Nanoparticles used in nanofluids generally include metals, oxides, carbides, or carbon nanotubes. The base fluid that is usually used to prepare nano fluid is water, ethylene glycol and oil. Nanofluids have new properties that make them useful for heat transfer applications. These fluids show higher thermal conductivity and heat transfer coefficient compared to the base fluid.
