Investigation of the obstacles and challenges of sustainable development of tourism (Case study: Gorgan city)

Abstract :
    Tourism industry, as a fast-growing, dynamic, and unique industry, has become an important part of the economic and productive activities of countries. Meanwhile, success in this industry requires knowing the obstacles and challenges facing it in order to deal with the obstacles to the progress of this industry. The present research was conducted with the aim of investigating the obstacles and challenges related to the management and sustainable development of tourism in Gorgan city. For this purpose, after a detailed knowledge of the region, a questionnaire with a Likert scale containing questions related to the obstacles and challenges of tourism development was prepared and filled out by the related experts. Then, the results of the questionnaires were analyzed and weighted. According to the results, the criterion of low level of health and lack of welfare and facilities in recreational areas, the lack of various entertainments for tourists and also, the lack of guarantees for the sustainability of investment in this industry are the most important challenges in the tourism development in the region. So. In this research, strategies and suggestions were presented to improve the current situation and to manage sustainable and successful of tourism in this region
