Abstract :
The environmental and sanitary investigation of the urban waste landfill is of great importance due to the creation of various pollutions. The most important pollutant of the burial place is the leachate caused by waste. Waste leachate can pollute these sources by penetrating into surface and underground waters. In the country, about 92% of waste materials are buried, and from this solid waste management method, about 25% is basic and almost sanitary burial, and the rest are buried in an unsanitary manner. In most burial grounds, leachate comes from the decomposition of organic materials or from external sources such as surface water drainage, rainwater, and underground water that enter waste materials. Since in most parts of Iran due to arid and semi-arid climate and lack of atmospheric precipitation, we are facing the problem of limiting water resources, proper management of leachate as one of the pollutants of water resources is very important. One of the steps for proper leachate treatment is to determine its quality and characteristics. Due to the fact that the quality of the leachate of each burial site is different from other burial sites, the leachate of each burial site should be studied separately in order to achieve the appropriate treatment method.
