Abstract :
The article under review examines the effect of earthquake foreshocks and aftershocks on the damage of geotechnical structures. In this article, the effects of earthquakes and tremors in geotechnical structures have been investigated. Due to the fact that geotechnical structures include soil and stone elements, the effects of earthquakes on these types of structures are very important. Considering the ever-increasing development of geotechnical structures and the huge costs that are spent on the construction of each of these structures, as well as their importance in the inter-city and intra-city transportation network and the danger to people s lives if they are damaged. can be done, it is necessary to study their stability against earthquake hazards. An aftershock is a smaller earthquake that occurs after a larger earthquake in the same area. If an aftershock is larger than its predecessor, the name of the aftershock is changed to a main earthquake, and the initial earthquake is called a foreshock. After a brief look at the history of the geotechnical structures industry and the past damage of these structures in earthquakes, we will examine the definitions of tunnels and the general characteristics of earthquake waves and how they affect tunnels, and estimate the riskiness of such structures. We express In general, underground structures have more resistance to earthquakes than other structures, and for this reason, they will have less shape changes under the effect of an earthquake. Geotechnical structures are among the main infrastructures of modern societies. The research results show that earthquakes cause horizontal forces to enter the structure. This horizontal force vibrates the foundation, wall, floor, column, beam and connections. The difference between the downward and upward movement of buildings causes a strong pressure on the structure and thus causes the failure of geotechnical structures. Also, investigating the behavior of such structures under the influence of dynamic loads, especially in earthquake-prone areas, is of particular importance. For this reason, investigating the behavior of underground structures and the factors that damage these structures will be an important and main subject of present research.
