Abstract :
In the following paper, the design and the way to produce the explosion forming system will be discussed. Explosive forming is one of the unconventional techniques in which, most commonly, the water or gas is used as the pressure transmission medium. One of the newest methods in explosive forming is gas detonation forming which uses a normal shock wave derived from gas detonation, to form sheet metals. The detonation wave goes through the detonation tube and acts as a blast load on the steel blank and forms it. Explosion forming system which operates by using the acetylene-oxygen or hydrogen-oxygen gas explosion energy is designed to produce arbitrary complex parts. The system consists of three main parts: the detonation chamber, ignition circuit and forming mold. The basic concepts and principle designs of explosion forming are investigated, besides, the important parameters in explosion such as speed and time in explosion forming have been calculated, Different parts of the explosion forming system are technically designed and produced. The invented device is of great importance in the aerospace industry and military with respect to the high-speed performance, capability of complex-forming, ability to shape various materials such as aluminum and, most importantly, the cost-effective property.
