Abstract :
In order to provide Voice over IP (VoIP) services for the mobile end users, there are multiple high speed access links, including Wi-Fi and Long Term Evolution (LTE) networks. IPv6 is applicable on both networks. However, due to different characteristics, these networks have distinct limitations and requirements in this regard. Thus, the visualizing and analyzing the performance and behavior of IPv6 on its underlying network will lead to a proper implementation of this protocol which in turn will result in optimal voice quality of service (QoS) for the mobile users. This study proposes two distinct topologies, one for LTE and one for Wi-Fi networks, to quantify, analyze, and compare the performance of IPv4 and IPv6 in 802.11ac and LTE networks. The OMNeT++ tool is used to develop and implement a variety of distinct scenarios within which different QoS performance metrics are precisely measured. The obtained results signify the extensive impact of the IPv6 on the QoS of the voice communication for both LTE and 802.11ac users.
