Abstract :
It is an indispensable task to estimate the remaining life of machinery in the mining sector aimed at ensuring the production and the customer’s satisfaction with the mine. For, in many cases, the management is interested to be informed of the remaining time until the occurrence of the failure within a specific optional period. This criterion is recognized as the remaining useful life (RUL). In this paper, we used an approach based on integrating a reliable frailty model to estimate the RUL rate. The frailty model is indeed the same reliability model with the intangible heterogeneity effect or the frailty. The frailty is also defined as differences in the growth of the rate of risk, which is due to the effects of environmental factors on the observable or unobservable system performance. We implemented this approach on a Komatsu PC-1250 excavator from the Sungun copper mine. Thus, we selected a Weibull frailty model to describe the failure behavior and compared it with the classical exponential model. The obtained results may be used for the development of maintenance and preventive repairs planning and the spare parts replacement intervals.
