Abstract :
Background: Gastric cancer is the fourth most common cancer in the world and the second most common cause of cancer death. Cancer occurs when the proliferation of cells is out of balance, which is the result of mutations in the tissues. By increasing or decreasing the gene expression, the cell goes out of balance. MicroRNAs, which are divided into oncomiR and tumor suppressor, can affect the expression of these genes. Given the importance of this cancer, the study of microRNAs and important genes in this cancer will be an important step in the diagnosis or treatment of this cancer. Methods: Using the database, including miRBase and miRCancer, information on the genes and microorganisms that were involved in the cancer were obtained and analyzed with an Excel program or some sites such as GeneMANIA. Result: After analysis, the data were obtained from hsa-miR-143-3p and hsa-miR-21-5p as two miRNAs with the highest expression in this cancer, respectively. According to the information, the most important target is hsa-miR-143-3p; it is a member of two RAS families, KRAS and HRAS. Also, the most important hsa-miR-21-5p targets were obtained in EGFR, HBS1, PTEN, MYC, PIK3R1, VEGFA, CDK6, PTK2 genes. Conclusion: Considering the results obtained, hsa-miR-143-3p and hsa-miR-21-5p could be serve as a diagnostic and prognostic marker for gastric cancer. More experimental and clinical studies are needed to validate the cancer inhibitory role of these microRNAs invitro and invivo.
