Abstract :
In this paper, an ultra-narrow band optical filter is designed in 2D photonic crystal with free spectral range of around FSR = 770 nm. The wavelength selection is based on resonant cavities. The dielectric rods are square-shaped and made of silicon and are in the air bed. The transmission power in the proposed structure is 99 %. The average bandwidth in this structure is Δλ = 0.29 nm and the quality factor are Q.f = 5427. The overall dimensions of the structure are 135 μm2. Narrow band filters can be used in optical circuits for wavelength selection and filtering of optical amplifiers and also basic structure for designing demultiplexer in telecommunication systems. The simulation results used the finite difference time-domain method.
