Abstract :
The location of underground dams is of great importance among researchers and executors. Determining a suitable location for the construction of an underground dam requires the analysis of complex issues of the interaction of soil, structure, water, and social and environmental issues. The process of studying to determine the location of underground dams is very extensive. The issue of water resources studies is one of the most important issues in determining the development strategy of society, especially in arid areas. In this paper, major study axes are considered for locating underground dams. Each of these factors can be decomposed into specific projects with a limited scope of application or specific assumptions according to the tastes and abilities of interested researchers. The location of underground dam construction requires soil studies in terms of soil texture, soil salinity, and permeability. Also, factors such as river water hydraulic coefficients, geophysical characteristics, location of depressions and depressions, surface runoff, and topography of the area are considered in choosing the appropriate location for the construction of the underground dam.
