Abstract :
According to UNHCR there are over 25 million refugees around the world. When people become suddenly and forcibly displaced through war or persecution, they leave behind the tools and inputs they need to engage in their usual productive, income-generating activities. The issue of unemployment is one of the important problems refugees face after war in host countries and results in different social, psychological and economic problems. This article aims to introduce business boxes as a short-term recovery solution for refugees to start up their own businesses in the host country. Short-term solution was adopted due to refugees need for quick engagement in business activities. Torbet-e-Jam refugee camp for Afghans in Iran was chosen as a case study in order to study economic issues and business continuity possibilities for designing business boxes. Business boxes that are described at this paper, are flexible, lightweight shelters and easy to assemble or move. It is author s belief that this physical solutions alongside with non-physical strategies will help the efficiency of this project.
