Analysis of the central region of Hamedan city by space syntax method

Abstract :
Urbanization, across the world , is perhaps the critical issue of the twenty-first century. To curb urban sprawl, we first need to effectively measure it to better understand how and where it has occurred . A city is not a simple network,instead, a city is a complex network, or a middle status between the regular and random counterparts. Human societies and cities are examples of large, complex systems. Cities are complex systems composed of many human agents interacting in physical urban space. In this study,space syntax method has been used for physical analysis of the central part of city and suggestions were made for sustainable development. To sum up, Space Syntax is a method that can be used to assess the designing decisions belonging to social, cultural organization of space, in the city and at the building level that produces objective data. The topological analysis performed by Depthmap software is capable of capturing a majority of human activities without considering metric information like street lengths and widths, and even building heights.
