Abstract :
Nitrate contamination of ground water resources has increased in Asia and various other parts of the world. Nitrate levels have increased due to increased usage of nitrogenous fertilizers, changes in land-use patterns and increased recycling of domestic wastewater. Several treatment processes can remove nitrates from water which are often problematic and expensive. Therefore, prevent or reduce methods to the entry of nitrate into groundwater can be a better option than groundwater treatment. Due to the abundance of nitrate sources and its destructive effects on health, it requires that this pollutant be studied and researched. In the present study, in addition to reviewing the studies and researches conducted on the status of nitrate as a harmful contaminant in groundwater, the status of this contaminant in one of the drinking water wells of Bojnourd city has also been investigated. In this study, the sources of contamination entering the drinking water well have been identified and the amount of contamination has been significantly reduced by using the cementation method.
