Abstract :
Baffles in heat exchanger have important role. The direction of flow in heat exchangers is determined by the baffles. This study aimed to investigate the effect of increasing baffle’s deflection angle on the heat exchanger. For this purpose, this study demonstrates the advantage of using baffles to disrupt the fluid flow and thus the instability of the heat transfer during the movement of the flow within the channel. Four baffle models with oblique angles of 0 °, 10 °, 15 ° and 20 ° are attached to the horizontal walls above and below a rectangular channel. This problem has been solved by Numerical analysis. Speed, temperature and Nusselt profiles in the pipe, as well as pressure drop along the pipe, are provided. Baffles are involved in creating rotation zones by creating heat transfer instability. The baffle with an angle of 20 degrees is more efficient than other baffles because the Nusselt number increases by about 7.5%.
