Abstract :
Abstract Today, the issue of seismic retrofitting of existing structures and buildings has become one of the most central issues in earthquake engineering. One of the methods of reinforcing concrete beams and providing ductility and seismic resistance of concrete structures is the use of steel and reinforced concrete jackets. Reinforcement of concrete means the necessary measures to improve the load-bearing properties of the concrete structure or to compensate for the existing weakness of the concrete structure. In the reinforcement of concrete structures, we increase the bearing capacity of a member or set of structures with a set of measures. Concrete structures can require reinforcement for a variety of reasons. Among these factors, we can mention executive problems, design errors, change of use of the structure, increase of structural floors, change in regulations, damage to the structure due to operating conditions such as earthquake, fire, increase of useful life of the structure, etc. In these conditions, the structure needs appropriate measures to improve the condition and load of the structure. In this article, we examine the methods of maintenance and reinforcement of reinforced concrete structures by steel and concrete jackets, considering its effect on the mass of the structure. Key words: Reinforcement, Concrete jacket, Reinforced concrete sections, Maintenance.
