Abstract :
The goal of present contribution is to determine the effect of SiC nanoparticles loading in the electrolyte on the morphological and microstructural properties of the Ni-P/Ni-Co-SiC bilayered electrodeposits. The films are fabricated using a direct current (DC) electroplating approach. Surface morphology and phase composition of the electrodeposits were characterized using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). The results showed that the content of the included SiC reinforcing phase changes the surface morphology and uniformity of the surface. An optimum loading of the nanoparticles is required to obtain the favorable nanoparticles dispersion over the microstructure. The loaded nanoparticles have no significant influence on the phase structure of the electrodeposits.
