Abstract :
Background and Aim: Nanotechnology is now applied in a variety of sectors. This science involves the development, cognition, specialization, and application of materials and equipment down to the billionth of a meter scale (nanometry). The introduction of nanotechnology in the field of environmental engineering can create the necessary conditions for wastewater treatment and reuse today, due to the global drinking water crisis; therefore the goal of this research is to look at the use of nanoparticles in the treatment and distribution of drinking water. Methods: The present study is a review. It has been studied by searching for articles published in Scopus، Pubmed، Magiran and reputable journals. Results: Nanoparticles to treat and improve the water treatment process to remove paint, arsenic, nitrate, organic matter and heavy metals and also remove certain pollutants from wastewater with the help of nanoceramics and remove oil pollutants from industrial effluents by titanium oxide nanoparticles and use Nanotubes can be used to detect effluent contamination. Conclusion: Due to the many capabilities of nano in eliminating and controlling environmental pollution and purifying and preventing their release, it can be considered as a green technology and an effective tool to achieve sustainable development.
