Abstract :
Nowadays, developments in production systems and technologies, communication and transportation affect urban land use, housing areas, and open and green areas. Within this framework, problems such as the rapid growth of cities, lack of adequate housing provision, the increase in unhealthy and unsafe environments and the lack of quality of life increase the interest in standard strategies and assessments. In the last decade, the global environment problems such as water and resource depletion and climate change have deeply affected the future wild life and human which resulted in serious global and local problems such as desertification of agricultural lands, depletion of natural resources, extinction of natural life and human migration. While negative impacts of natural resources increase and global climate change are getting more and more every day, one solution lies in assessments that provide approaches and strategies to increase the quality of global environment and decrease climate change by creating healthy and livable environment with the categories reformed in various headings. All the above-mentioned problems led to a study to show an applied and preferred BREEAM (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method) assessment system. BREEAM assessments checklist of standard is one of the most recognized used assessment systems worldwide. The study clarifies the relationships between BREEAM achievement of climate change improvements. Moreover, this study investigates the relationship between climate change factors and BREEAM techniques and standard to evaluate many headings and subheadings of environmental factors climate change in detail as an example. BREEAM has been rapidly adopted as a standard and now is used to measure the different climates of geographical and cultural adaption. In the other words, BREEM is used as a measurement based on designer’s choice which is not climate specific but climate appropriate choices. So, it leaves each region free to use BREEAM as an assessment system based on regional properties. In other words, technique and standard may change according to regional priorities. These standards aim to ensure that cities are planned and produced to provide high quality communities that are safe and environmentally friendly. The aim of this study is to reveal viewpoints standards and control systems under BREEAM for Climate Change categories. Also the aim of the study is to evaluate the kind of environmental components criteria which is consisted on BREEAM assessments checklist which in a way is a relationship between climate change factors and BREEAM techniques and standard. The checklist includes wide variety of tools, criteria, methods options, formulas …etc. to reduce climate change and increase the quality of urban housing areas and open green land use. The evaluation results show that environmental and planning design indicators come to the forefront rather than other factors. Within this framework, what kind of environmental planning strategies are prioritized and focused by BREEAM for urban climate change settlements will be assessed. In this study the latest version of “BREEAM 2018 standards” was taken into account. As a result, BREEAM give a great insight to use appropriate heads and subheads in designing and planning. Also the study helps to reduce climate changes for a better life standard. Also, BREEAM supply issues such as economic and environmental impacts. Especially with BREEAM a reference point with qualified and clear standards can be applied in order to increase a climate Change for urban settlements that has been constituted. Furthermore, there are software packages that assess buildings under external climatic condition specific to geographic locations. There are also number of useful climate change adaptation reported that adapts to successfully future weather conditions. It contains both policies and actions that both deal with risks and opportunities.
