Abstract :
BTEX as the most abundant hydrocarbon in environment is the common pollutant in water and soil resources that increase the concern for its sustainability and Carcinogenic characteristic. In this research the BTEX biodegradation in this condition was assessed. The identification of BTEX degrader bacterium from the isolated and available bacteria was done. The capability of Bacillus thuringiensis in BTEX biodegradation was confirmed for the first time. Efficiency considering different factors like salinity, cell mass, nitrate and BTEX concentration was done. Design of experiment by Taguchi method and optimization by Design Expert software indicated the positive effect of the BTEX and nitrate increase on BTEX biodegradation.
