Abstract :
Abstract In order to prevent damage caused by earthquake forces, they should be examined and studied carefully. Our country, Iran, is not safe from this natural phenomenon due to its location on the earthquake belt. Therefore, one of the basic steps in reducing the risk of an earthquake is to determine the vulnerability of buildings and to know their weak points against incoming loads. In this article, in addition to explanations about earthquakes, the effect of earthquakes on concrete buildings and different failure modes of concrete sections is discussed. Key words: earthquake, concrete building, damage.
