Abstract :
Plastic waste is a serious environmental problem that has been growing especially in recent years because of the increasing production and consumption of plastic waste in the environment. The plastic products become waste disposed of dispersed or landfills, causing a range of negative effects on human health and the environment such as water pollution, soil erosion, air pollution, and climate change. From a sustainability point of view, It is essential the conversation of plastic waste to fuel and valuable materials since the global energy demand is rising because of the increased human population, transportation, and industry. So, finding renewable energy sources is important for reducing environmental effects and promoting cost-effective energy production. The objective of this paper is to review the potential of the pyrolysis method as an effective thermochemical conversion way for the valorization of plastic waste. The influence of operating conditions such as temperature, heating rate, residence time, catalyst types, different types of reactors, and plastic waste types is discussed. Finally, the challenges and future research directions of this promising research field are briefly explained.
