Abstract :
Scorpion venom consist of complex mixture of peptides and proteins with diverse activities. Although, some of venom peptides are the cause of symptoms in the human stung by scorpion, some of them indicated pharmacological properties. So, identification of scorpion venom peptides and proteins can be valuable. Transcriptome analysis experiments is a great opportunity to characterize venom transcripts related to important proteins. In the current research we describe the transcriptomic analysis of the telson of scorpion Mesobuthus eupeus, obtained by NGS-based RNA sequencing (RNA-Seq). After trimming of raw reads, over eighty eight million clean reads were achieved. De novo assembly was performed on the clean reads. A total of 135021 unigenes were obtained, of which 20005 unigenes have annotation in Swiss prot databases. The rest of unigenes (115016) were related to new genes or non-coding sequences. The main identified genes was related to toxins affecting ion channels, phospholipases, metalloproteases, alpha-heterotoxins, toxin factors, phosphodiesterases, cytotoxins, neurotoxins and insect-specific toxins from various species such as scorpions, snakes, ticks, spiders, etc. All in all, new bioactive peptides or proteins identified in this study, provide a great opportunity for more venomics research promising development novel pharmacological agent.
